Early morning confession

Insomnia strikes this morning and I spent 90 minutes googling on finding narrow car seats to fit in my little car, getting custom made booster seats to fit infant car seat, etc. etc. Then....(yikes) I started googling minivans. Yeah..I said it minivan! I had always been partial to Toyota Sienna and Honda Odyssey but then that was before I saw the safety ratings for the Kia Sedona. Unless I really get comfortable driving the X5 ...we might have to get one of this. Patrick & Ronan have been begging to get a minivan...but that's because they think all new cars have DVD players in them. I've got a whole summer to get to know X5 really well.

Kelly said...: yeah, I about died when I got my Minivan but now that I have I LOVE it. It was very hard to see my self as a 'mini van mama' you will do fine what ever car you learn to drive. Maybe we'll get you some of those extened mirrors or a beeper when you back up. In fact some of the vans come with back up cameras and sensors!; May 9, 2008 at 10:55 AM

Ronan: Mama, is my dada still in "gatar"?
M: Yes, he is in Qatar until June
Ronan: Is he a Guitar Hero?

Patrick: Mom, why do dads have to go to work and moms have to do all the hard work?

Me: What do you mean?

Patrick: You know, you clean the house, take us out to play, make food, wash the dishes

(My Patrick has always been so insightful--)

Ronan: Hey mom, do you know who makes moms?

Me: Ummm... they are born.

Ronan: No mom...Jesus makes them.

Patrick: Mama, you have to do what I say. I'm the boss of the house

Me: No, I'm the boss of the house

Patrick: No, when dada is not home I'm the boss of the house. When dada is home, you're the boss of the house.

While in Patrick's pediatrician's waiting room, I got written up by the fashion police.

Patrick: Mama, you have to brush your armpit

Me: What do you mean?

Patrick: You have a beard growing in your armpit.

Me: (speechless...but almost died laughing)

I overheard Ronan singing in the bathtub this evening..

"If I were a butterfly, I thank the Lord that I could fly

If I were a little brother I'd kiss and hug my brother."

The cats decided to have a litter box strike one day and decided it would be cool to poop inside the house. After stepping on poop for the second time, I was huffing and puffin' and screaming bloody murder when Ronan tells me...

"Mama, you need to put underwear on Cameron".

Patrick and I just looked at each other and rolled laughing.

One evening, I was annoyed with the mess the kids made in the kitchen and I suPPose my voice was louder than usual...yeah, I'm known to yell when frustrated. Ronan looks at me with concern and says "mama, why are you not loving me?" Nothing like a 3 year old to keep me in check. So I had to explain that just because mommy is yelling doesn't mean I don't love them.

I overheard this Sunday morning...the boys having a conversation half awake.

Ronan: Patriiiickk...buttbutthead, you want to trade pokemon cards?

Patrick: No buttbutthead...zzzzzzzz.

Both remained asleep--10:00am! they like to sleep in like their father.

Ronan: Mama, check this out! I can make a bubble with my runny nose!!!

(ewww!!!1)

As we were saying goodbye at the airport and having a group cuddle. I'm kissing the boys and telling them to have fun, and to listen to their dada. Ronan holds my face and looks at me in the eye and said "mama, tell baby Gabriel not to give you too much contractions". Such a sweet boy, everytime I have a Braxton Hicks contraction and he would say "uh-oh time for your water with ice".

Ronan's Oedipus Complex 10/10/08

"Mama when I grow up and I'm big as dada--we can give dada away to other people without a dada. Then if you want, I will marry you."

Ronan's comment while I was blow drying my hair.

"Hey, mama. We're going to have another baby! I said "Oh yeah?..what makes you say that?" He replies as he rubs my belly lovingly..."your belly is getting bigger again!"

Patrick: OK Ronan, let's wrestle.

Ronan: Okay

Patrick: You'll be George Washington and I'll be Barrack Obama

In this wrestling match, Obama won as well

Upon finding a coloring page picture of Martin Luther King Jr in the recycle bin.

Ronan: Mom, who put Barrack Obama in the recycle

Me: I did, and actually that's Martin Luther King

Ronan: No mom, that picture does not have a crown. Martin Luther King Jr is a king. That's Barrack Obama

Ronan: Mama you just ran through a stop sign

Me: No I didn't, I stopped

Ronan: No mom, when you stopped your wheels were still turning

Patrick: Mom, do you know the way or are you just driving randomly

Ronan: Are you going to have another baby mom?

Me: No, but we can think about adopting when Gabriel is a little older. Would you like that?

Ronan: Yeah..but if you have a baby, I know its' going to be cute.
